Prior to Contacting Us
DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!!!
We are more than happy to answer questions, guide your decisions, help determine if a particular species is an appropriate pet option for you. But PLEASE only ask specific questions. If you come to us asking about adoption “because they are cute” or “you saw a tik-tok”, unfortunately we will be quick to decline to adopt to you. Same goes for asking questions like “What should I feed it?” and “Can it bite?”. We need you to have done at least basic research prior to asking us questions. Exotic and native animals are NOT a pet for just anyone and not everyone should have the option to own one. These animals are amazing to own and work with but we want what is best for our animals and we will decline an adoption if we feel it is necessary. These are not domesticated animals and deserve the best possible chance at a happy and healthy life.
Adoption Process
Application:
We ask that everyone submit an application to start the adoption process. This allows us to gather some basic information about you, your knowledge base, and what you are looking for. The application is required. If you do not wish to fill it out, we will not adopt to you.
Waitlist:
We primarily work off of a waitlist for most species. We typically have adopters lined up prior to animals being available so if you’re looking to adopt a specific animal, this is your best bet. This saves everyone time and effort in the long run. To get on the waitlist, please start with the application and reach out directly to us (text is best). We do have 2 waitlist options: Paid and Unpaid.
Paid Waitlist: You have been approved to adopt, sent a deposit, and are now in line for that particular species or a specific available animal. We always work off this list first and therefore this is your best bet to actually get the animal you desire.
Unpaid Waitlist: You have contacted us, maybe submitted an application already, but have not paid a deposit. We work in order off this list as well, but there are no guarantees we will ever actually get to this list as we start with our deposit waitlist first.
If you are on one of our waitlists you are always welcome to check in. However, please realize that we get TONS of messages everyday as it is and if you have not heard from us, it is because we have no new information to share with you. We will be in touch when appropriate. If you have questions about your future pet though, go ahead and ask.
Deposit/Payment:
A deposit is needed to hold a particular animal for you or to get on our waitlist.
Deposit for a specific animal or currently available species is 50% of the adoption cost.
Deposit for our waitlist is $100. Waitlist deposit typically refers to upcoming/expected babies or next season’s babies. Deposits are not a separate payment and are part of the total due. Once the species/animal you have placed a deposit becomes available, we will contact you for an additional payment to equal 50% adoption fee.
Deposits may be moved to another species or to the next year/season if the adopter asks to do so. This shall be limited to 2 changes. Further requested adjustments are at our discretion and may result in forfeiture of deposit.
Payment in full is required at pickup or prior to an animal leaving on transport. Tax will be added to final payment.
Payment Plans:
We may accept a payment plans if arranged with us ahead of time.
The animal will not leave us until paid in full but we can spread out the balance overtime. Just ask.
Refunds:
We do not refund any deposits unless we are unable to complete the adoption within the guaranteed timeframe and we are the ones at fault (see below).
If you adopted an animal from us, and can no longer keep said animal, we will take it back if necessary but we will not refund you.
Pickup vs Delivery
Pickup @ Beacon Fire Farm:
You are more than welcome to pickup directly from us at the farm.
Final payment can be made in person at that time via any method that we accept. If paying in cash, we do not offer change.
We will schedule you, or have you self schedule based on published availability. You will receive an email with address, directions, and appointment details.
Transport/Delivery via BFF or Our Representative:
We sometimes are able to schedule and complete deliveries ourselves, or we may be able to send a representative of our farm.
Base Rate:
Typically $1.50-1.75 per mile, one way distance for calculation
Usually only available for shorter routes able to be completed same day
Single Day Multi-Route:
2+ deliveries starting and ending at the farm within the same day
Pricing starts at base rate and goes down based on number of deliveries being made
Multi-Day Routes:
Price per delivery will vary
Based off of distance from us and how many deliveries are along entire route
Adoption payment shall be made in full prior to animal leaving us.
Transport/Delivery via Third Party Transporter:
Adopter has final responsibility to find transporter and arrange details
We do have a few that we have used in the past and are comfortable continuing to use. Ask for recommendations if needed.
Payment will be remitted to the transporter per their preferences.
Guarantees
Please realize that we cannot control Mother Nature. We do not know exactly when new litters will be born, how many will be born, what the sex breakdown of the litter will be, what colors will be produced, etc. Because of this we will not make any promises we cannot keep.
Guarantees We Make:
Waitlist Deposits - If you place a deposit to get on our waitlist for future or upcoming litters, JWE has 24 months to fulfill the adoption. Generally speaking we will tell you when we expect to be able to have the animal you are wanting (this or next season typically). If JWE is unable to fulfill your deposit within the allotted 24 months timeframe, you may ask for a refund.
Guarantees We Do NOT Make:
We cannot guarantee available sex or color.
Males and females are the same adoption cost.
Colors generally have different adoption costs.
If you want a specific sex or color, and choose to pass on one that does not meet your wants, this shall not constitute as JWE being unable to fulfill your deposit. If you decline adoption of an offered animal, JWE will move on to the next person in line and come back to you in the same order for the next available animal.
Health Guarantee:
The animal you are adopting will be healthy without gross deformity or illness to the best of our knowledge.
If you want a health certificate prior to pickup/transport, we are happy to do this. We will get an appointment scheduled with our vet and we will email you a copy of the certificate. Cost = $200, due prior to vet appointment.
We will not guarantee the health of the animal past 24hrs after adoption. These are exotic animals that are often sent home young and on the bottle. We are happy to guide care but since we are not providing the care, we cannot be held responsible for said care.
